Beautifully Magical

I received this today in the post and sat and read it. It is beautifully magical, it invoked memories of my Nan & I, how I would tell her my stories & adventures, making faery houses at the bottom of my garden and how she always listened, then shared her own stories with me, which was lovely to remember as she was my favourite person in the world. The story is lovely and informative about nature. I look forward to sharing this book with my own Grandaughter in the future (she is only 16mths old so will have to wait), but 1 day I will share the magic with her too. Also, the illustrations in the book are beautiful!

Maple and the Crystal Cavern arrived so beautifully wrapped I didn't want to open it. Kate signed it to my girls, which was a wonderful touch, thank you. I read it to them as a bedtime story, enjoying the magical world and characters and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The illustrations are beautiful and add so much to the story. We very much look forward to Maple's next adventure.

Truly Beautiful Illustrations & A Magical Story to boot!

I instantly feel in love with the art style - magic literally GLOWS from the drawings - there's a softness and organic quality to them, and they already feel like places and characters that I've already known somehow - in my dreams, or another life! The story is terrific too, I won't leave any spoilers - but there's pathos and hope therein.
 All in all, a really beautiful book clearly made with passion and skill. Heaven knows how many hours those drawings took! Wish I could draw like this - being able to create magical, believable worlds!

To all my friends and followers the incredibly talented and artistic Kate Monkman of The Ivy Cavern and Free Range Fairies has wrote the most wonderful and adventurous story about a Little Faekie who learns about a magical underground world where the Mycelies live, who are a magical Gnome like mushroom creature, called Maple and the Crystal Cavern.

Kate has illustrated the book beautifully with many fabulous unique drawings that are truly stunning to see and gives the book an extra dimension.

It’s a beautiful read with hints of Environmentalism, Nature and Magic blended together to tell the tale of Maple.

At the back of the boom Kate has wrote some interesting Fungi Facts and a lovely glossary to help us learn and connect even more with the natural world.

I highly recommend Maple and the Crystal Cavern for everyone young and old. It’s a fab read with so many hidden meanings.

I loved every moment and I can’t wait to read it again.
